WHAT IS DIRECT QUALITY CARE AT PRANA?

ONE-ON-ONE physical therapy sessions with a licensed physical therapist (no physical therapy assistants)

MORE TIME with patients to figure out the “why”, not just the “what”.

DIRECT-ACCESS CERTIFIED for all Prana physical therapists, so all non-Medicare patients can come directly to Prana without seeing a physician first

SKILLED physical therapists with more than 70 years of experience combined

SPECIALIZED CARE as most PTs can help 70% of the patients, we target the other 30% with our unique techniques

SPECIALIZED CARE+ for often misunderstood patient populations such as those with hypermobility-spectrum disorders/Ehler Danlos Syndrome, airway dysfunction/snoring/TMJ, chronic pain, unexplained dizziness, unresolved back pain (often the tailbone/coccyx that is overlooked) and our performing arts speciality (two therapists from Broadway in NYC)

WARM AND UPLIFTING design of the space to create a more healing environment

WHY DO WE DO IT?

At PRANA we have dedicated ourselves to be ambassadors of excellence in physical therapy.

We strive to help our community thrive, not just survive. Too many patients come into PRANA feeling they cannot get better and are using our PTs as a last resort. We are proud of our high success rate with these individuals.

Our goal at Prana: To make you better for yourself, your family, your workplace, your passion and your community!

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

It depends. But, at Prana we have been coaching individuals to consider wellness physical therapy and come in for treatment 2-6 times every quarter. Or once every one to four weeks. The frequency depends on your goals, how your body responds to treatment and the time and resources you are willing to invest in yourself to make your life bigger with less pain.

WHAT IS DIRECT ACCESS IN PHYSICAL THERAPY?

Direct access to physical therapy (PT) is the ability to receive evaluation and treatment from a physical therapist without referral or prescription for 30 days. This is also known as self referral or direct care. This applies to everyone except Medicare patients. However, even though a doctor’s prescription is not required, at Prana we are dedicated to working collaboratively with your referring physician or other healthcare provider to give you the best care.  Direct access in physical therapy can offer several benefits, including:

Time and money savings: Barriers to entry are eliminated and healthcare costs are saved. Patients access PT services quickly and without delay because seeing a primary care physician first is not required.

Faster recovery: Patients often recover faster and better with direct care.

Patient satisfaction: Patients report higher satisfaction with direct care compared to receiving physical therapy through a referral

WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I ASK WHEN I CONTACT MY COMMERCIAL INSURANCE COMPANY?

What are my out-of-network Physical Therapy benefits?

Will I receive reimbursements based on the charges or a predetermined value for PT in my area?

Do I need pre-authorization and/or a referral to get reimbursed?

How will I receive my reimbursement (if any)?

Your insurance company should inform you if you have an out-of-network deductible, coinsurance, copay, visit limit.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY SKILLED PHYSICAL THERAPY SESSIONS?

Prana is an out-of-network provider with all insurances except for Medicare at this time. (Medicare patients do not have the option for out-of-network). In order to keep such a complicated machine running at its optimum…your body…train yourself to invest in your wellness, not your disease.

Prana will collect payment at the time of service via cash, check, credit card…this includes Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts

As a courtesy Prana’s front-desk staff will contact your insurance company to confirm out-of-network benefits and submit claims.

Any reimbursements from your insurance company will go directly to you.

Each commercial insurance is unique and offers different plans. Therefore, it is important that each patient also contact their insurance company to familiarize themselves with their out-of-network benefits.

HOW MUCH WILL I BE PAYING AT EACH VISIT?

Evaluation charge: $55

Treatment charge: $175 for 55 minute session

Initial Evaluation: $230 ($175 + $55 = $230)

Follow-up Treatment: $175

WHAT DO I DO IF I FEEL I CANNOT AFFORD DIRECT QUALITY CARE?

If your insurance company does not offer reimbursement and you feel you absolutely cannot invest in your wellness at this time. Prana would recommend simply budgeting for one initial evaluation session.

The Prana physical therapists are very skilled at getting to the “why” not just the “what” of your pain or dysfunction. You will get unique manual/hands-on treatment and learn self-management techniques to optimally operate your “machine” that will significantly save healthcare costs in the long run. Then we can help you decide next steps for your wellness journey.

Lastly, talk with your human resources department at your job about bringing quality care to you at your workplace.

In an effort to reach more individuals who may not have access to quality health care, Prana has a sister company Myokind (www.myo-kind.com). The Myokind method was adapted from the Broadway performing arts paradigm to focus on wellness and preventative physical therapy sessions as well as efficient posture and movement training.

Some of the Prana physical therapists and others similarly trained across the country go into businesses (primarily manufacturing and performing arts) and offer wellness/preventative PT sessions to employees who otherwise may have access to such care. Myokind PTs are in local Lancaster companies and also nationally in Maryland, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada and California. If interested, email info@myo-kind.com.

Functional Manual Therapy

Functional Manual Therapy® is an approach to patient care coined and developed by Gregory and Vicky Johnson in the early 1990’s.

We are unique in that we do not have any physical therapy assistants on staff; we provide all our patients direct contact with a licensed physical therapist for personalized, one-on-one treatment sessions

The Prana PTs

Dawn is a CFMT (certified functional manual therapist), which means she is only one of 4 in Pennsylvania to be certified with this proven, effective system for treatment of a wide spectrum of patients.

Justin, Heather, Charlie, Shannon, Joseph, Sean, and Adam are also very knowledgeable in functional manual therapy as this is Prana's paradigm of treatment.
